Future Plans

As I look to the future, I am guided by a singular, innate desire: to leave the world better than I found it. While the "how" of that statement remains somewhat ambiguous, I know my creativity will help me on my chosen path.

As for now, I believe that this path will take me to UC Berkeley to pursue mechanical engineering. At Berkeley, my studies will be a culmination of my love for STEM disciplines and desire to think outside the box. Although engineering is a far more technical field, my experimentation in the arts has led me here. As an engineering major, I will be afforded the chance to continue pushing the boundaries and problem solve. With the renowned facilities at UC Berkeley, I'm sure I will confront new challenges, but I will simultaneously be given the tools to navigate these difficulties.

After I finish college, I would like to work as a biomedical or environmental engineer, to continue advocating for humanity. I hope to help one of these fields to largely improve quality of life in this world. As a biomedical engineer, I would hopefully explore the world of prosthetics and artificial organs. These medical devices are crucial for the lives of many, and I think my developed creativity would allow me to improve them. As an environmental engineer, I would research the possibilities for reversing the effects of climate change. Right now, changes in the environment are the toughest set of challenges that humanity faces. It is more important than ever that we examine strategies to reverse the done damage.

Hopefully, in either of these engineering fields, I will use my skills as an artist to make a difference for the future of humanity. Wherever I end up in the coming years, I'm sure that what I have learned in the arts will guide me as an advocate for positive change.
